STOP THE APPLICATION OF SEWAGE SLUDGE A.K.A. BIOSOLIDS ON AGRICULTURAL LAND!!!

Since sewage sludge isnt just human waste and contains pollutants from industrial waste (hospitals, morgues, slaughter house, etc.) and household wastes, and compounds added or created during treatment-it contains; metals, drugs/pharmaceuticals, organic compounds and disease-causing organisms. More toxic than manure or raw sewage! Emerging contaminants include steroids, non-prescription drugs, insect repellents, detergents byproducts, disinfectants, plasticizers, fire retardants, antibiotics, insecticides, reproductive hormones, other prescription drugs and solvents!!!

Concerns being raised in Canada and the US are:

Health Risks: airborne pathogens, heavy metals, etc.

Food Chain: roots from crops uptake nutrients from the soil, what else are they uptaking?
All crops end up in the food chain, one way or another!!

Water Contamination: sludge applied to fields; wells, rivers, streams, lakes, tile drains, how long before they are contaminated?

Property Values: Who is protecting these? Would you buy a home next to a field that was treated with pathogenic human feces and untested industrial chemical waste?

Wildlife: Who protect them? Birds/rodents droppings; do they carry toxins/antibiotic resident diseases?

Despite scientists, researchers and doctors who all claim that either there is not enough known about all the components in the sludge or that there has NEVER been a study of risk assessment of the impact of human health from exposure to the myriad of sludge pathogens and pollutants and that there NEVER WILL BE a risk assessment because the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council very honestly stated it is NOT
POSSIBLE to do a risk assessment on the combination of chemicals and pathogens to which sludge VICTIMS are exposed. It is not even possible to KNOW WHAT combination of toxic chemicals and disease-causing pathogens are present in any particular load of sludge without extensive and very costly testing, which is not likely to happen!

We the citizens of Ontario and anybody who eats/drinks want an immediate stop to the application of biosolids (sewage sludge, pathogenic human feces/untested industrial chemical waste) on the agricultural land of Ontario OUR FOOD CHAIN!!!!
