AN OPEN LETTER TO AMR MOUSSA FROM LIBYANS ABROAD (21 March 2011)
Your message about the Allied action in preparation for enforcement of the No Fly zone did not surprise us. This is nothing more than continuation of all your well known previous stands over the years as Secretary General of the Arab League.
You were silent when the Libyan people protested peacefully only for their protests to be put down violently by overwelming military force by Gaddafi against his own people. But you jumped quickly to speak to criticize the action taken in implementing the United Nations Resolution 1973 to effectively defend the defenseless people of Libya facing massacre and and reprisals.
We are aware of your questionable relations with Gaddafi. Your long and cozy association with his agents in Egypt is well known to many.
Your declaration was a personal initiative lacking authorization from the Arab League which subsequently reasserted its support for the UN Resolution and action. The only purpose it served is to cast fog over the action authorized by the UN and to empower Gaddafi and give him some support.
Would you rather see Gaddafis forces continue its brutal carnage they carried out in Zawiya and continue to carry out in Misrata and Ajdabya, to take it to Benghazi, Bayda, Darna, and Tobruk? What do you have to say to the widows and orphans victimized by Gaddafi. Did you speak for them? How do you explain your message to those who have been terrorized by Gaddafi, his collaborators and mercenaries? How do you explain it to those who lost a loving parent, sibling or child? How do you explain it to those who are threatened by further killing and reprisals, clearly promised and followed through?
Did you raise your voice to say that Gaddafis brutal actions went beyond any reasonable response to peacegul protest?
Do you want a weak and ineffective no fly zone that allows the carnage to continue, turning Libyan cities into killing fields, in every city, every street (Zanga Zanga) every house and every room as Gaddafi promised?
You were silent when you should have spoken, and you spoke when you should have been silent. Your timing is sadly impeccable, Mr. Secretary General. You give comfort, support and excuses to the brutal dictator of Libya, but no sympathy or consideration to the victims of his brutality and oppression. You should withdraw your words and your collaborations with one of the worlds worst dictators. Your actions will not be forgiven or forgotten.
The Libyan people want an end to oppression and dictatorship. They want freedom from fear and persecution through peaceful change. Your words can only hurt their hopes and damage aspirations. They give support only to the dictator of Libya, not to the Libyan people.
The Libyan people strongly condemn your message and hold you responsible for any negative effect it may have.
