Changing the UNC vs. Duke Ticket Distribtion to Bracelets and Magic Numbers sign now

This is a request to the University of North Carolina Administration to revert back to the previous distribution system (i.e. bracelets & magic numbers) for the basketball game against Duke University. In the past, there have always been a few tickets left over for underclassmen, but not every senior has gone to get a bracelet, or showed up at for the distribution at 7:00 AM on the appropriate Saturday morning.

Now, due to the convenience of the on-line distribution method, there will undoubtedly be more seniors attempting to get tickets. If more register, and get tickets via the online system, there is a possibility that there will be seniors who do not receive tickets to this game. This would be a travesty and a farce.

Chancellor Moeser,
You should know how much this game in particular means to the senior class. If this system is allowed this system to exclude even one senior, it would be one of the biggest mistakes this University has ever made. I know you currently have bigger issues to deal with, but the entire student body is outraged. The problem will only intensify if seniors are left out of the Duke game, or if there are empty seats (e.g. Kentucky).

Mr. Baddour,
As Athletics Director, you have a responsibility to all of the athletic traditions at this school. You also understand the concepts hard work and dedication. You must realize that this is a system that rewards the less dedicated. People who are willing to give up their Saturday mornings to get tickets in the cold will be excluded because someone who would never go out that early is just a click away from tickets they may not even use.

Mr. Gwaltney,
It is very hard to understand how someone who represents the ticketing office has failed to realize this potential problem. You call it fair, but it is far from it. If even one senior does not get tickets, or if student seats are empty because no one claimed their ticket, then all of your work will be considered a waste.

Coach Williams,
We all know you have a great love and pride of the tradition of athletic excellence and fan support at this university. Can you imagine empty seats when we play Duke? Can you imagine seniors waiting outside of the Dean Dome hoping for some miracle? Any help you can give to this cause will be appreciated!

Rachel High,
You should be ashamed of yourself. You should do what is best for the students. Your staunch support for this anti-fan policy is absurd. You can redeem yourself by at least fixing the Duke distribution.

Underclassmen,
This is not just a petition for seniors. In the coming years, you may find yourselves faced with the same problem. Let your voice be heard now, and do not stop fighting until there is change!

We know money and time has been invested in this new system, but getting bracelets and volunteers to work the Duke distribution would not be hard. CAA would always give 2 tickets to its volunteers who worked the distributions. For this distribution, simply allow seniors to be the volunteers and give them the tickets. There would probably be a large turnout of seniors who would be more willing to give up time during the week and their entire Saturday morning, than to take the chance of being left out. This means that work needs to be done quickly!
