Civil Rights Protection for All sign now

We the undersigned are all agreed that the Fort Dodge City Council should indeed approve the human rights law being proposed to prevent discrimination of a person based on actual or percieved sexual orientation.
Who are you to judge whether a person regardless of their sexual orientation should be denied a job or not? Do they not bleed red as we do? It does not make them any different in any aspect from us other than their sexual orientation which in all regards has no bearing whatsoever on whether these people can do their jobs effectively or not. I could Turn the Tables on those of you who are against this proposed law change and say how is actually being gay or being percieved as gay any different than saying because you are a heterosexual you cannot have this job, because of what you do in your own home or how you think or act that has absolutely no effect on your job performance, you still cannot have this job.
Everyone in this country that is suspossed to be the land of the free, the big melting pot as it is called, all have the constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, by discriminating against someone for their sexual orientation you are essentially taking away these individuals'
constitutional rights that so many have died in war to protect. Do you think that the soldiers who go to fight wars to protect us here are worried about fighting for only heterosexual individuals versus gay individuals?
HELL NO THEY ARE NOT, THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION!! So, what makes you any better than them, they are risking their lives for everyone not just a group of narrowminded individuals. If the united states soldiers fighting for this country can do their duty and fight for all of mankind, who are you to say who deserves civil rights protections and who does not. It appalls me that this should even be an issue. This generation of kids, teenagers and especially college students are more open minded than the elderly generation of this time. what does that tell you? Change is inevitable, you can change with times and future generations or you can be left behind and face potentially and costly lawsuits. My name is Holly Newhouse-Guidry, I am a victim of the Pocahontas Shootings in August of 2005, my brother is gay and i am damn proud of him! There is not one thing on this earth i would not do for my brother, he is a wonderful person with a heart of gold! I love him for who he is, I respect him for who he is, I do not look at him and say well, i will only love you if you have a certain sexual orientation, that is morally and completely wrong! If you start allowing discrimination to occur, you are teaching the youth of today that it is ok to start discriminating on any number of things that are not specifically listed in the laws, such as you cant have this job, you have a spiked mohawk, you cant have this job because you have red hair, or you cant have this job because you have no children. That is ridiculous and so is denying this proposed law to take place. Think for a moment, what if the ambulence people and the first responders who saved my baby, my boyfriend and my life were narrow minded and discriminating and for an instant, say my boyfriend was not my boyfriend but, a gay friend and they refused to treat him because he was gay and on the basis of sexual orientation, he would be dead right now and not have survived this horrific tragedy that we were forced to live through, would that have been morally right to allow to happen? NO IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AND NEITHER IS DENYING THIS PROPOSAL TO GO INTO EFFECT AND INTO LAW. ALL OF THE UNDERSIGNED STAND BEHIND ME IN SAYING THAT SEXUAL ORIENTATION DISCRIMINATION IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Signed, the writer of this petition,
Holly J. Newhouse-Guidry
