My Buddies License Approval sign now

We as a widely ranged group of Madison Area Residents recommend approval of the Class B Liquor and Beer license for My Buddies LLC, Agent Dale Wells.

We have no reservations about allowing this establishment to open regardless of the companies choice in operators and management. We fully believe not only is Dale Wells an outstanding citizen fully capable of owning/operating a restaurant/tavern, but that his support system is constructed with highly ethical and responsible individuals who desire to run a community friendly establishment.

Please note that we also agree with the statement that this is Dale and Debra Wells' license, and they do have the right to hire whomever they see fit. This is, after all, a free and capitalist country.

Thank you.

To the signers of this petition,

This petition is being formed in show of support of approval of the Class B Liquor and Beer license for My Buddies LLC located at 4325 Lien Rd Madison, WI 53704.

I, Dale Wells, am agent/owner of this establishment and has made application for the above mentioned license. I have been a long term resident of Madison's East Side community for over 48 years. Working as a Master electrician for a majority of that time, I've made vast contributions to Madison's community, and am now looking to enhance that by opening a new restaurant/sports bar on the East Side.

However, due to mistakes made by my son, Jason Wells, and Jason's friend/coworker Joseph Johnson in their youth, the City of Madison Police Department has begun to recommend a denial of this license.

There are a couple issues to be addressed here. The length of time from Jason and Joseph's mistakes are extremely substantial. 13 years for Jason, 7 years for Joseph.

Since that time Jason has rebounded, nearly completed apprenticeship training as an electrician, following in my footsteps, and has held not only an Operator's license in the same jurisdiction in which he made the mistake, but also the very same license that I am applying for, Class B Liquor and Beer. Jason held this license in the Town of Cottage Grove.

Joseph is in a similar position. He went on to run a high volume restaurant, moved on to become extremely successful working for HSBC Bank for 4 years, and has spent the remaining time helping Jason and myself build this company. He has also held an Operator's license in Portage, WI (Columbia County).

There are two points to be made here.

1 - Jason Wells and Joseph Johnson have a long track record of success in not only the restaurant/tavern industry, but beyond. They are fully capable of running safe events, and being the on site supervisors (with myself making all final decisions) as has been previously been decided by two governing bodies, Town of Cottage Grove and Portage.

2 - This is not Jason nor Joseph's license. I, Dale Wells, and Debra Wells are the owners and license applicants. We have opted to potentially hire Jason and Joseph as consultants and managers. As it is well within Jason and Joseph's rights to pursue employment in this field, regardless of any past issues, it is most importantly well within our rights to employ any person we deem worthy of any position. Government does not have the right to instruct, mandate, or hold a license hostage due to disapproval of our employees.

Please take a second to sign this petition in support. It will be submitted to the ALRC and City Council.

Please review application/business plan here :

Thank you and we can't wait to open and serve all of you!!!

With respect,
Dale Wells

I know all parties involved in the launch of this new venture and see no reason why they should be denied to conduct business in Madison. They have been working so hard to make this a family establishment and should be granted all necessary permits and li

These men deserve a chance to prove that they have changed. They paid their dues for what they have done. They are awesome at organizing events that I have been to especially the volleyball tournaments. Please give them a chance!

To deny Dale & Debra Wells of being able to get a liquor license would be against the very ideals that this country was founded on. Furthermore, I have witnessed what this group of individuals are capable of and the sky is the limit when they put thei
