No Peet's Coffee in Downtown San Mateo sign now

STOP PEET'S COFFEE & TEA FROM COMING TO DOWNTOWN SAN MATEO!

We, the undersigned are opposed to Peet's Coffee & Tea occupying the commercial space at 255 3rd Ave in San Mateo. A Peet's Coffee will compete with long-standing neighborhood small businesses that sell coffee such as 3BEES Coffee, Beans Street Coffee, Dessert Republic and Cafй Lele. Peets will directly threaten the existence of these small businesses.

There are 4 small and independent businesses within one- block distance. Is there a need for a 5th & large business such as Peets?

Many customers and local residents would like to keep our small downtown area unique in character with small-individualized retail business. Many of them are appauled to this move and urged us to write to you and suggested that we initiate a petition against this move by Peets Coffee & Tea. The San Mateo development Agencies did not first consult with those most deeply affected by the decision to bring Peets into San Mateo Downtown despite the communitys efforts to work with them.
