RESIDENTS PARKING

We are undertaking a survey to see if there is an interest from households to have the Residents Car Parking scheme that ends on Railway Street and Thomas Street extended to include coverage of our streets.

If it is introduced, households will have to understand that:-

The current scheme conditions allow a maximum of four passes per household. Each household currently pays no more than 70, as follows: two residents passes at 30 each, one free visitors pass and one additional visitors pass at 10. These charges can be varied by the Council.
It WILL NOT GUARANTEE any person a right to a space. There is always likely to be more cars than roadside availability.
The actual areas covered, and the time during which the restrictions apply will have to be negotiated with the Council.
An order will have to be made through the Traffic Regulations Panel to introduce it.

On the other hand its introduction could:-

Stop long term commuters and railway users from adding to the congestion in our streets.
Make more space available especially during daytime for householders and visitors.

If the level of support differs greatly between streets we could talk to the Council about introducing it in only part of the area. This would have to be a continuous area with no holes in it to be effective. Everyone would have to understand there would almost certainly be some displacement parking.
