Nicole Kidman remains an actress of high standing among the Hollywood community, and has appeared in films that have won great critical acclaim, such as Cold Mountain and Moulin Rouge. John Glazers work has also been well-received in the past, such as the film Sexy Beast, as has that of screenwriters Milo Addica and Jean-Claude Carriиre (Monsters Ball and The Unbearable Lightness of Being respectively).

We, the undersigned, are therefore highly disturbed at apparently corroborated reports from various news sources, including The Age and The Guardian, to the effect that the sees Kidman performing an intimate nude scene, in the bath, with a ten year old boy (child actor Cameron Bright).

Paedophilia given expression for the sake of art is still paedophilia. Child pornography produced by a major Hollywood studio is still child pornography. This kind of material would not be considered acceptable were it not produced by a film studio. We are disgusted that such material is considered fit for public consumption including teenagers, under the age of majority, who will likely see this movie on its release regardless of what rating it is given. We consider the production and release of this movie to be the height of irresponsibility.

We appeal to John Glazer to at least edit the film to remove this scene.

We appeal to Nicole Kidman to apologise for participating in a film that is only going to have the effect of encouraging paedophilia and place children at further risk.

We appeal to Cameron Bright and his family to disclose the contractual terms under which he appears in this film, including his fee.

We appeal to Fine Line Features to block the release of this film for as long as it takes to have this material expunged.

And we appeal to the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission to investigate the making of this film to ensure that all has been done to protect the welfare of all involved, especially Bright.
