Take down stop signs at Limebank and Leitrum Intersection sign now

On the 20th of August 2008, the City of Ottawa installed a new 3-way stop at the intersection of Limebank Road and Leitrum Road in an attempt to improve safety for drivers.

Although this is seen as a temporary solution until the widening of Limebank Road takes place (it is anticipated that this will happen in two years), the new stop signs have caused and intolerable amount of traffic for the residents of Riverside South during the morning and afternoon rush hours.

In our opinion, this is not a solution at all, in that the incredible amount of traffic that has resulted far outweighs the marginal safety benefit.

We, the undersigned, appeal to the City of Ottawa to reconsider its decision on the implementation of the new stop signs and the Limebank and Leitrum Intersection.

It was terribly disappointing that the City had taken such a step forward with the Limeback/River intersection, only to take 2 steps back with the 3 way stop. We have not even gotten back into full traffic flow again, and already there was a morning where

These new stop signs generate at least a kilometre long of cars idling " bumper to bumper" at all times during return home and same in the morning creating large amount of unnecessary CO2 emission. One can assume that there was no or minimal study on impa

It has created a larger traffic problem trying to fix a smaller problem. There is no way a set of stop signs on such a busy road makes any sense at all as it just disrupts the flow of traffic and creates chaos. A set of lights would be more appropriate he

This will cause as long (if not longer) a traffic delay than the one that was caused at the former Limeback and River intersection. What was the point? Something needs to be done.

Who's the brain that made that decision? How about turning lanes. Stuck at Spratt and Limebank because of this stop sign. I'm taking River road permanantly.

Just put in a set of lights with the appropriate stopping time. Limebank should be given a green the majority of the time. The timer is very important, because cars turn right onto Limebank and this shouldn't turn the light red.

This portion of the road is extremely dangerous in the winter whe there is snow and freezing rain, on most mornings and afternoons, this road can have 3 or 4 cars in the deep ditches. Putting a forced stop in the middle of this portion of the road is craz

What a poor excuse for a solution. I understand safety may be the root of the decision but after travelling the route for 6 years I have never seen one accident in the morning at Leitrim and Limebank but have already seen two accidents at the new lights t
