Thetis Lake-CRD Dog Restrictions sign now

We, the undersigned users of CRD parks ask the Capital Regional District to rethink the proposed dog management plan for Thetis Lake, Mill Hill and Francis King Parks. Please do not put leash restrictions in place without first enforcing the existing bylaw requiring dogs to be under control and to stay on the trails. Education about environmental and social concerns combined with enforcement of existing bylaws will ensure that responsible dog owners (who are a major user group of these parks) can continue to safely enjoy these parks with their dogs under control but off leash

Please make no changes to current regulations (i.e. regulations that have been in place for at least 5 years). I am lobbying my Mayor and Council to stop the CRD changes to current dog access regulations in parks.

This is insane! How about putting the CRD parks committee on leash instead?

More rules and regulations are not the solution to any problem - particularly when CRD Parks defers enforcement of our current all encompassing existing ones! Any policy intended to shut out an entire user group is discriminatory. Instead, consider this:

MOST dogs are very well-behaved, so I would like to know why we/they are being singled out! Dogs don't break glass, dogs don't leave garbage for others to pick up! This latest "law" is ridiculous!

Dogs are an intricate part of nature; 'Eradicating' them will not solve any of the proposed 'problems'
