Trinity Park without a Tollway sign now

The Dallas Trinity Park has the potential to be a world-class recreational facility for the City of Dallas. This potential however, can never be realized with the inclusion of a six lane tollway. A tollway would isolate the park from its surroundings and impede pedestrian connectivity. The powers-that-be have said it is needed to provide traffic relief and to improve air quality; but 50 years of freeway projects in Dallas has shown that the outcome is exactly the opposite.

If this is to be Dallass Central Park or even an equivalent to White Rock Lake, then let us look to those parks for inspiration. Development isnt needed in those areas surrounding the park. The existence of a park accomplishes this without outside help. Imagine if there was a limited-access freeway in the middle of White Rock Lake. The park would cease to be a recreational escape for Dallas citizens.

The Trinity Park system is supposed to become an escape in an urban environment. A tollway would utterly disallow any such recreational escape for Dallas citizens.

It is hereby the wish of the undersigned to have all components directly related to the tollway formally excluded from the Trinity Park Plan by Dallas officials so the park can truly be world-class and enjoyed to the fullest by its citizens without a tollway in the middle, bringing noise, limiting access to the park and introducing air pollution.

With three signature bridges and an amazing park, it is time to transform Dallas to an international destination instead of just another stop while crossing the US.

I have said this before and I'll say it again, If they must have it why not completely bury the toll road in the outside bank of the levy away from the river, there wouldn't be the noise or access problem which there is in the present plan.
