We, as vehicle enthusiasts, demand respect and justice. sign now

After reading several legitimate articles regarding unreasonable search and seizures taking affect on the Honda and Acura tuning population, I have decided to act upon it. Just from being across the nation and hearing the shocking stories via the web, periodicals, and worth of mouth are terrifying me. I am actually directing this petition towards the state of California, as they have impounded and seized far too many potentially legitimate vehicles and pieces of equipment. For example, I read about a victim who was pulled over in California as what was stated as a routine traffic stop. This individual's car was searched for stolen equipment. The officer stated there was no VIN identification on the individual's transmission, which in turn lead to the officer impounding his car. The only option for the individual was to find his or her receipt with the coordinating VIN numbers. Otherwise, the police institution would charge outrageous labor fees to pull out his transmission, confiscate it, and return the car without the aforementioned transmission. The first problem I see with this is that it happens way to often. Even here in Maryland, the respect for the Honda community from police officers is next to non-exsistant. As a driver with a spotless record and a "tuned" Honda Civic, I do not like the negative attention associated with my passion. I love the idea of "modifying" my car, racing solely on a isolated track, and doing all of the above without hurting the environment. I believe the police had no direct evidence that held the individual accountable for what he was charged for. I have heard examples like this from fellow enthusiasts in Maryland, and I fear that this may extend across the nation into other states. The police in California seem to keep up with what transmission and motor comes in a certain car stock, however if one part breaks, we all know (as Honda enthusiasts) the best thing about Hondas is the ability to mix and match. We can put Japanese transmissions, which can be potentially cheaper, on our engines without any compromise to the security of others and ourselves. Some of these mix and matchable parts do not come with USA standard numbers. I believe no one should be held accountable until there is proof that depicts the goods in question were stolen. Some people believe that the police can do this because there are no laws that explicitly state that the law enforcement agencies of America are not aloud to do such things. Please help us fight for justice in California, Maryland, and the entire United States.
